If you are looking for unspoilt island far away from crowds, then Folegandros is the place. 10 hours by ferry from Athens, remote and rocky, it has no airport, no package tours and no chain hotels. Once there you will be rewarded with pristine waters and quiet atmosphere. It is only 13km long and 4km wide but has numerous small beaches – sandy and pebbled. Folegandros has only 600 hundred citizens spread in 3 main villages. The capital is traffic free with many restaurants and shops and typical white washed houses. The castle is built like a fortress on a rock 200 metres above the sea and is a very romantic place.
